A subdomain is the section of the web address that is before a domain and you've almost certainly seen a lot of subdomains while browsing the Web. For instance, many sites such as Wikipedia have versions in various languages using subdomains - en.wikipedia.org, de.wikipedia.org and so forth. The advantage of using a subdomain is that it can have an independent site and its own records, so you're able to even host it on a different server. The practical use is that you can have a supplementary website, such as an e-learning portal for pupils as well as the main school website. If you work with subdomains instead of subfolders, it's going to be much easier to perform maintenance or to upgrade a specific website, not mentioning that it'll be more secure to have the sites separate from one another.
Subdomains in Hosting
Every hosting plan that we supply will permit you to create hundreds of subdomains with no more than a few mouse clicks in your hosting CP. They will all be listed in the area where you create them and grouped under the main domain for more convenience, so that you can easily keep track of every one of them. Additionally, you can access a lot of functions for any of the subdomains via right-click context menus - for example, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the website files, and more. While setting up a new subdomain, you'll also have a number of options that you can choose from - determine the default access folder, set custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or decide if the subdomain will use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The amount of subdomains you'll have is 100 % up to you since we have not restricted this feature for any one of our plans.
Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting
You will be able to create as many subdomains as you would like with any of our Linux semi-dedicated hosting since we have not set an upper limit for this feature. The Hepsia hosting CP will allow you to add a new subdomain with only a few clicks and you can access a variety of advanced features during the process - modify the default access folder, choose the IP address the subdomain will use from the shared and dedicated ones which are provided in your account, activate FrontPage Extensions, add an SSL certificate, plus much more. Even if you create a large number of subdomains, you will be able to keep track of them with ease since they will be listed in alphabetical order under their main domain. For each of them, you can even access the site files or see logs and usage stats via quick access buttons.
