Memcached
An increasing number of users use Memcached to increase database performance. What is Memcached?
Memcached is an object caching system, which is used to improve the loading speed of database-driven websites by caching the calls and the replies between the website visitor and the server. Put simply, anytime a specific web page on such a site is requested, the script sends a database query to request the information that should be shown to the website visitor. If the latter clicks on a hyperlink to open some other page, the whole procedure is carried out again and this results in lots of database calls and higher load on the server, particularly if the website has a lot of concurrent visitors. Memcached "memorizes" this exchange of information, so if any of these pages is requested again, the script no longer has to request any content from the database, since everything is provided by the Memcached platform. Thus, the overall load speed of your website will "soar" and you will get more pleased visitors and they will be able to browse your website much faster. Moreover, the Memcached platform "refreshes" its cache if any content in the database is altered, so the website users will never end up seeing old content.

Memcached in Hosting
If you host script-based sites in a hosting account with us, you’ll be able to add the Memcached content caching system to your shared hosting package with only a few clicks of the mouse via your Hepsia Control Panel. The upgrade will be available momentarily and, since the necessary extension is pre-installed on our avant-garde cloud website hosting platform, you can begin using it straight away. To give you more flexibility, we offer two different upgrades related to the number of instances (i.e. how many websites will use Memcached) and to the amount of memory that Memcached will use. The latter is available in increments of 16 MB and you can add as much memory as you like. Logically, the more memory Memcached is permitted to use, the more content it will cache, so if you have a regularly visited site with a lot of data, you may require more memory to be able to take full advantage of the power that Memcached can offer you.
- Memcached in Semi-dedicated Hosting
You can get the Memcached object caching system as an upgrade with all our Linux semi-dedicated hosting and since it works with any script-driven software app, you can use it for each website that you host on our platform, regardless of what app you have used – Joomla™, Mambo or WordPress, a custom-created app, etc. You can add the upgrade from the respective section of the Hepsia Control Panel from which you administer your semi-dedicated account, and you can select two separate features – the instances and the amount of memory that they will use. In simple terms, these things specify the number of the sites that will use the Memcached caching system and the maximum amount of system memory that the system will be able to use in order to cache your data. The two things are ordered independently for more freedom and one instance does not come with a fixed amount of memory. You can take advantage of the Memcached system with any type of website and both you and the site visitors will swiftly spot the difference in the performance.- Memcached in VPS Hosting
You’ll get Memcached with each of the virtual private server plans offered by us if you select Hepsia as your Control Panel and you will be able to activate the object caching platform via the Control Panel section with the very same name. The activation takes a couple of clicks and you will distinguish the difference in the overall performance of your Internet sites almost instantaneously. The amount of memory that the Memcached caching platform can employ to cache content depends on the particular Virtual Private Server hosting plan that you have picked, but at any rate it will be at least several hundred megabytes, which is quite enough even for several data-heavy Internet sites. You can use the Memcached platform with websites driven by Joomla™, WordPress or any other Internet app and decrease the load on your server, which will allow you to keep using the current plan rather than moving to a more powerful one, since you will simply not need it. The Memcached platform is already being used by popular websites such as Zynga, Reddit and Wikipedia, which shows its efficiency.- Memcached in Dedicated Web Hosting
Memcached comes free of charge with all Linux dedicated web hosting offered by our company and the only condition is that the dedicated machine must be ordered with the Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You can use the distributed memory caching system for any database-driven site, including those based on popular web applications – for instance, a WordPress personal blog or a Joomla™-powered community site. Each dedicated machine is tied to a different amount of system memory that the Memcached caching system can employ, but the minimum you will get is 3 gigabytes, which is sufficient enough to optimize the load speed of extremely large sites immensely, since this very memory will be dedicated to storing the cached data. The Memcached system will begin caching content the moment it is activated, so shortly after that, you will note the enhanced overall performance of your Internet sites and the lowered load on your dedicated machine. A lot of websites use Memcached to increase their efficiency, including popular ones like Wikipedia and Reddit. - Memcached in Semi-dedicated Hosting
